Jamiroquai’s Concert

Today was a literally long day for me. I went out to Karawaci at 9 AM, gone back home by 4 PM, went out again to Sentul for the concert at 5 PM, and I just got back home around 1.30 AM. Hell, I’m at tomorrow right now! But it was all worth it, and seeing Jamiroquai’s live concert in person should be considered as one of the unforgettable moments.

Today’s concert started out late, when they said that the concert starts at 8 PM, well no, Dimi was performing the opening act at that time and the real concert starts at 10 PM, and it spans for two hours straight with ten songs.

While listening to Jamiroquai’s CDs or MP3s is something that we often do, seeing them perform live is even sicker than I ever imagined. The band played everything flawlessly as if you’re listening to a sound loop. Manual sound loop. With two background singers, there are only eight of them but they manage to shake Sentul City’s Convention Center with a scale that’s off the chart. Too bad they didn’t play out Virtual Insanity, but as long as my all time favorite driving song—Cosmic Girl—is played, everything is just perfect! It is too bad, though, that we’re not allowed to bring cameras inside (WTF!) and I was only able to take photos from my iPhone.

On a sidenote, I met a plentiful of friends and old friends there, including Mande Austriono, Marthin Nayoan, Andira Pramanta and family, Steny Agustaf, and saw Pandji’s face on the big screen LOL.

This is definitely the best concert I ever attended, the atmosphere was splendid, we had really great fun. And Yero, thank you for the birthday present!

D’Masiv: Even a Plate Full of Vomit is Better

Monday, December 22, 2008

Following a Facebook notes post by a friend of mine, I found out that D’Masiv is just one of those idiotic douche bags that probably don’t know shit or two about music, and that they’re about to join in Ahmad Dhani’s plagiaristic band wagon. All they can do is rip things out from foreign bands and crossing their fingers hoping that no one will found out. Well, you see, if you’re the Pulau Nyamuk’s local band that simply does not go outside the island, you could probably escape that. But not here, you jackass.

Here’s the list of their ripped songs:

  • Cinta Ini Membunuhku = I Don’t Love You – My Chemical Romance
  • Diam Tanpa Kata = Awakening – Switchfoot
  • Dan Kamu = Head Over Heels (in This Life) – Switchfoot
  • CInta Sampai Disini = Into The Sun – Lifehouse
  • Sebelah Mata = The Take Over, The Break’s Over – Fall Out Boy
  • Dilemma = Soldier’s Poem – Muse
  • Tak Pernah Rela = Is It Any Wonder – Keane
  • Lukaku = Drive – Incubus

And here’s some YouTube videos for further proof:

Yes, people can be inspired and make another artwork out of it. But when you copy the whole thing and call it yours, you better join the monkey-balls-sucker group. And on top of that, judging from their defensive comments, fans of D’Masiv (let’s just assume that they are fans) are not any smarter as well. Here are some examples, taken from the YouTube videos above:

Apparently, they all share the dumbness and the lack of brain cells. This is what I call typical Indonesian commentators, talk first, and then think.

Jazz Night at La Piazza

la_piazza.jpg

Last Saturday, we went to La Piazza to watch Mery perform with her friends on the Jazz Night. And since that was the first time I went to La Piazza, it’s a not-bad experience at all because the band played so well! And we didn’t get the chance to explore the mall anyway. Rika Ruslan was the guest singer at the event, and she really does can sing! It was really a wonderful performance, so missing JGTC the next day is not such a big deal anyway :D

Oh, Jerry dropped his car keys there and had to go back the next morning to pick it up at the security’s office… (sigh)…

Soundshine 2006

Sunday, March 19, 2006

Soundshine 2006 would be the other concert I watched after the Java Jazz Festival, the difference is, I really paid for the concert. The downside is, while the ticket said that the concert starts at 5PM, it’s nowhere from starting for almost another 2 hours, and standing for hours is really exhausting.

Anyway, the concert starts with White Shoes and the Couples Company as an opening band, they played for almost an hour straight, I think.

The second band performing was Mocca. I really love their arrangements, particularly for “Swing It, Bob!” And Arina (the vocalist) really has a nice English. Compared with that moronic Ahmad Dhani who can’t even speak English correctly, she’s way cool!

The band we’ve been waiting for was obviously Kings of Convenience. Oh my God, they played their music just like in the CD, perfect and crisp acoustic sounds, clean techniques, and they’re really good at what they’re doing. And I really like the acoustic version of “I’d Rather Dance with You”. So I guess waiting for hours for them to play was really worth it in the end.

BTW, pardon the bad photos, I have to take them with my Zire, as they confiscated Nyonyo’s camera.

I was just browsing around the sites hosted at Neuro-Designs, and realized that my friends at Academie of FarSide already have their album for sale on iTunes Music Store! Way to go guys!
