Nannini’s Compact Booth

Friday, September 21st, 2007

nannini.jpg

On my recent trip to Plaza Senayan, I noticed that Alessandro Nannini was closed for renovation. Apparently, it has a temporary booth counter set up on the center of the 2nd floor. Although it is entirely different from what I remembered from Nannini’s outlet, it actually came out pretty good. And if those panels are really recyclable, then it could probably be the first sustainable booth counter in Indonesia. It’s a start for a country that is a bit too late to go green.

The Burger King Hype

On its second day, Burger King has become a bit of a hype already in Senayan City. Heck, Mom even tried to line up yesterday and didn’t get anything. So earlier today, Mom and the twins tried the whole queueing thing again. Yep, they did managed to try the burgers, and brought home a Whopper for me. I like Burger King, a lot more than McDonald’s or any other burger restaurants in this country. I thought my hopes was lost when Burger King doesn’t seem to be interested on stepping its feet on this country ever again (The last time I ate Burger King in Jakarta was probably back when I was in elementary).

So now, how do I feel after I tasted Burger King in Jakarta again?… I’m disappointed. The burger is nowhere near what I ate the last time I when to Singapore. And they don’t have mushrooms. So a Double Whopper with mushroom is only a dream away…

Come on, Burger King, with that kind of price tag and no mushroom toppings, and that kind of taste, I’d better off finding other burgers, although what I ate today still tasted better than McDonald’s, and of course more original than Blenger Burger… That MF ripper.

Sodamilk

sodamilk.jpgIt’s been a while since Mom made one of these, and come to think of it, it’s been a while indeed since the last time I had one. A quite refreshing snack for an afternoon break, after all those work… (sigh)…

Mushroom Dinner Day

mom's mushroom recipes
Tonight’s dinner menus are filled with mushrooms. Mom cooked two different kinds of mushroom-related food. The left one was created from 4 or 5, or maybe more, kinds of mushrooms. These are the mushrooms that Mom bought from a traditional store during our Hong Kong vacation last year. Despite the look which resembles a blob, it’s actually pretty good.

The right one was Mom’s regular mushroom-corn-chilli recipe, which she cooks on a regular basis, and I have never gone bored with it.

Mom actually has a very good sense of cooking, she never measures everything, but all the food always came out just right, fresh from the kitchen.
