Two Things Today

Friday, September 4, 2009

There are two things today that I discovered, that can be rated as “beyond dickery” in Indonesia:

First, motorists that refuse to follow the grand rule of traffic regulations and yet get upset when we told them that they are wrong. Most of them are, unfortunately, motorcycles. We can forget about public transportations since they probably did not line up when God was giving away brains for free. But some automobile drivers also don’t seem to be free of this disease.

Second, people who don’t queue in a line, cuts other people that were actually in queue and yet get upset when we told them that they are wrong. Most of them are, unfortunately, adults and elderly people. I can conclude that their families probably don’t know what this thing called “manners” is. Perhaps when the rest of humanity evolved from cave-dwellers, they are still stuck in that age.

    I have been wanting to say something about how AWFUL and INCONSIDERATE people are en masse. I mean, would it be too hard for people to wait for a lift to empty? What’s with flashing headlights? Traffic pushing in to the point that it’s let them in or loose your bumper?

    Indonesians are lovely people, but can be AWFUL to each other.

    @Brett:
    I agree, I can never understand the ego of these people. Foreign people know that Indonesia thrives on hospitality until they see it for themselves, that when queueing, people here are savages.
