iMac Keyboard Skin
October 15th, 2005
I finally got the chance to buy a protector for my Mac keyboard. Since it’s white, I kinda don’t want to loose that whiteness with all the dirt and dead mosquitos coming in. At eStore, there were several options for the keyboard skin, and at least there are two that caught my eyes. The first one was pretty cheap, it’s only 35.000, and it looks pretty similar to the plastic wrapper you use when you are heating your food in the microwave. So I guess, I’ll skip that, and figuring that the plastic will get loose afterwards, I think typing would be less comfortable.
The second option was the XPro Ice keyboard skin. Although it’s rather pricey (priced at 200.000), it was crafted with precision to fit the shape of the Apple keyboard, and it was made from silicon, so I guess it’s quite washable when dirty. I picked this one out and installed in on top of the keyboard. Honestly, the feeling of my keyboard is becoming a little strange with the silicon on top. But I guess, it’s a future investment, and I’ll be adjusting myself with the current rather-depressed tactile feel of the keyboard. I’ll consider the situation the same like when I moved from my MX Duo to this keyboard, without the skin. Actually, it’s all about adaptation. And since Apple keyboards are not exactly cheap, for 200.000, it’s really a good investment.
